The head coach Hoang Anh Tuan explained that he has only called up two players over the age of 23 instead of three for the Vietnamese Olympic team at the 19th Asian Games due to the paperwork issue with defender Bui Tien Dung. Originally, the CAHN center-back was also registered to play in the Asian Games, but due to the lack of paperwork, Bui Tien Dung had to miss the opportunity.

However, the coach from Khanh Hoa province affirms that he has anticipated this situation.
Nham Manh Dung is selected due to his vast experience.
“The 12 players who are currently training with me will participate in the Asian Games. This tournament is very different from Southeast Asia; teams like Saudi Arabia and Iran are at the top level on the continent. Olympic Vietnam needs a strong squad,” Hoang Anh Tuan said.
“The VFF’s objective for us is to find the best players for the national team. This objective has been in place since the U23 Southeast Asia Championship 2023, not waiting until the Asian Games.
The direction of the VFF is to create more opportunities for young players to play and participate in major tournaments to gain experience for future service in the national team. As for achievements, let us consider where Vietnamese football stands in comparison to Asia?”
